Overview

Under the direction of the South District Executive Director, the Aquatics Program Director oversees the operations of the aquatics department, all bodies of water, and programs; including staff supervision, budget management, contact management, Aquatics Team oversight, and planning. Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs and safety services. Maintains records, directs other leads, and ensures proper pool maintenance. Provides swim instruction and lifeguarding as necessary. Maintains compliance with all Association, Insurance, and Department of Health safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Directs Safety Manager, Pool Managers, and Lead positions.
  • Manages lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR training.
  • Leads team training.
  • Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Assists with Swim Team Board and Branch Advisory Council meetings.
  • Compiles program Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and participation in programs. Collaborates with the Sales and Retention Team.
  • Ensures quality in program delivery, instruction, communication, and team conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • One to two years of related experience preferred: for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of:
    • Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; New Employee Orientation; Preventing Workplace Violence; Workplace Harassment.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Posted Salary Range

USD $68,640.00 - USD $72,000.00 /Yr.
