Overview

Under the direction of the Youth Sports Director, the Golf Coach will plan and
implement a set of classes or mini camps using the Payne Stewart Golf curriculum and equipment.
They may lead or direct a paid and/or volunteer staff of 1-12 individuals. Classes and mini camps
may be held at multiple branches and transportation may be necessary. The recreational and
educational activities will support children’s learning and promote self-esteem and skill development
in a group setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a group of 8-50 children.
  • Directs a group of 1-12 volunteers and/or paid part-time staff.
  • Studies the appropriate lesson plans by reading and watching the videos prior to each session.
  • Sets up stations prior to the start of the class or camp each day.
  • Acts as a positive role model for children and other staff.
  • Interacts with individuals as well as the whole group.
  • Uses appropriate disciplinary techniques; keeping the Program Director informed of children requiring special attention.
  • Use appropriate voice level and positive statements with staff and children.
  • Confers immediately with Program Director concerning suspected child abuse and follows mandated reporting procedures.
  • Stores and transports equipment from site to site as needed.
  • Maintains equipment as needed.
  • Plans and implements a variety of recreational and educational activities using the Payne Stewart curriculum which support children’s learning and promote self-esteem in small group settings in accordance with YMCA philosophy and the four values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Caring.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Any combination of education and/or background in recreation or education.
  • Experience working in direct supervision and implementing activities for Preschoolers, School aged children, tweens and teens.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, residents, and other staff.
  • Proficient in understanding and executing both oral and written directions.
  • Ability to adhere to program guidelines and consistently perform to established standards.

Posted Salary Range

USD $20.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
