Overview

Under the supervision and guidance of the Preschool/School Age Supervisor, the Head Teacher is responsible for assisting in management of assigned site in the following areas: Administration Management, Program Content Management, Staff Team Management, and Community Relations. Accountability includes assisting in program quality management, program safety, staff relations, staff recognition, and training. The Head Teacher will work with other site staff in developing and enriching child care activities.

 

Applicants must be able to work full-time hours. This position's regular schedule will be 9:30am to 6pm with a 30 minute lunch break. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for staff meetings and trainings. Schedule will change seasonally depending on department needs.

Responsibilities

  • In the absence of the Preschool/School Age Supervisor, act as a supervisor of program and site personnel, ensuring YMCA policies and procedures are maintained by all staff.
  • Responsible for daily open/close of center in collaboration with Site
  • Complete administrative responsibilities as assigned by Site Director:
  • Assist in keeping all written records up to date (sign in/out, ).
  • Maintain individual files on each child with all information required by YMCA policy and state law.
  • Assist in ensuring maximum enrollment, maintaining a current and accurate waiting list when full.
  • Assist in establishing and training staff team in emergency procedures in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Serve as liaison between Site Director and staff (when applicable).
  • Assist in on-going training of site staff and provide leadership for staff team.
  • Interact daily with parents, ensuring positive YMCA image.
  • Ensure site meets or exceeds licensing standards at all times.
  • Plan and implement Preschool/Afterschool program to include all elements of program design on a daily basis.
  • Maintain clean, attractive and orderly environment.
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

  1. High school graduate or equivalent plus 2 years of college.
  2. Possess or be actively working towards a college degree.
  3. At least Two years work experience with a comparable age group.
  4. 12 Units of college credits in related fields accepted by licensing.
  5. TB Clearance
  6. Clearance of work related physical.
  7. Current certification in Pediatric First Aid and Community CPR.
  8. Fingerprint/Child Abuse Index clearance.

Posted Salary Range

USD $19.00 - USD $21.00 /Hr.
