Overview

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Pool Manager will assist the supervision and evaluation of lifeguard staff, schedules and ensures all certification requirements are met by staff. The Association Pool Manager oversees all pool facility requirements and maintenance, working with our hired pool company and collaborating with our Facilities Department. Focus will be on providing a safe and clean atmosphere for pool patrons at our Sacramento Central, Rollingwood and Capital YMCA.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pool staff including the implementation of their schedule and ensuring their timecards reflect hours worked by payroll closing date.
  • Oversee the ongoing certification and training of safety staff, including lifeguards, to maintain best practices in accordance with American Red Cross Lifeguarding standards.
  • Manages real-time staffing needs, including addressing call-outs and last-minute schedule adjustments to maintain required lifeguard coverage.
  • Work with the Aquatics Director to recruit and hire diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Maintains positive public relations at the swimming pool.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the area of responsibility. Responds to any participant concerns in a timely manner.
  • Monitors daily pool operations for compliance with state, local, Red Cross and YMCA safety regulations.
  • Performs monthly inspections at Capital, Central, and Rollingwood to verify first aid readiness and proper incident-report processing.
  • Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pool and facility maintenance, and has knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Oversees safety staff performance, including disciplinary action, of all Aquatics safety staff.
  • Ensures cleanliness of all facilities, including but not limited to bathrooms, trash pickup, and biohazard disposal as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor. 

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three years’ prior experience in aquatics teaching children and adults.
  • Two years’ prior experience in supervision.
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Instructor Completion of the YMCA of Superior California Pre and Post-Employment Checklist.

Posted Salary Range

USD $21.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.
